از اوایل اسفندماه ۱۳۸۷ که فضای انتخابات دوره دهم ریاست جمهوری به شدت داغ  و گاهی ملتهب می شد، در اندیشه مطالعه بر روی میزان تأثیر فضای سایبر در این انتخابات بودم. چرا که هیجان و شور رقابت در محیط سایبر، نشانی از بی‌سابقه بودن رقابت در فضای مجازی، به این وسعت در کشور ما داشت. با مراقبت کامل و با استفاده از امکانات نرم افزاری، فضای اینترنت را رصد نموده و مستندات لازم درباره نقش اینترنت در انتخابات پیش‌رو، گردآوری کردم. حجم اطلاعاتی و مستندات، به شکلی شگفت‌آورروز به روز افزونتر می‌شد! پیشینه و منابع علمی خارجی نیز مورد توجه قرارداده و در حد توان شمار قابل توجهی از منابع علمی گردآوری شد.  گویا، همه شواهد، نوید یک پژوهش علمی پرثمر و مفید را می داد! اما، علیرغم بکر بودن و ضرورت این پژوهش علمی ، شرایط به گونه‌ای رقم خورد که برای پژوهش فضای مناسبی نبود و اما و اگرهای بسیاری مطرح می‌شد که در یک کار پژوهشی، ممکن بود همه چیز را  دچار ابهام سازد. در واقع مسیر پژوهش به سمت دیگری کشیده می‌شد که از پاسخ دادن به پرسش یا پرسشهای پژوهش، باز می‌ماندم. اگرچه هنوز هم جای چنین بررسی علمی خالی است، اما، اقتضای کار علمی، و نه سیاسی، چیز دیگری است که امید است در این زمینه خاص، شرایط  آن فراهم شود.

اکنون، منابع الکترونیکی فراوانی به زبان انگلیسی، اعم از کتاب و مقالات و گزارشها را در اختیار دارم که می‌تواند منابع با ارزشی برای مرور ادبیات و پیشینه چنین پژوهشی باشد.اگر فرصتی بیابم، شاید هم به عنوان «مقاله مروری» حاصل برخی مطالعاتم را منتشر کنم. هنوز هم بر این باورم که این پژوهش یک کار ضروری است.
